Megan O’Rourke Releases Statement on Unconstitutional Attack on Iran

Andover, NJ – Dr. Megan O’Rourke released a statement today in response to President Donald Trump’s unconstitutional attack on Iran:

“Only Congress has the power to declare war. President Trump is completely out of control. We have lived through forever wars in the Middle East and President Trump promised he would not entangle us in them again. Yet now, Trump is putting our servicemen and women’s lives in danger for an unauthorized war that he knows will lead to death and tragedy. We absolutely cannot repeat the mistakes of the past.

“Congress must hold this out-of-control administration accountable. The silence is deafening from Rep. Tom Kean, Jr., who continues to allow the separation of powers to crumble for the sake of party over country.”

Dr. Megan O’Rourke is running for Congress in New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District in the Democratic primary. Megan grew up in a family of six in Blairstown. She earned her Ph.D and raised a family while running a small farm before becoming a lead climate scientist at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). During her time with the USDA, Dr. O’Rourke was a labor leader and fought for workers’ rights. Dr. O’Rourke left the federal government in the Summer of 2025 because she could not work for an administration that was taking America backwards on climate science and setting policies that raise costs and hurt working families.
